SKiing Colorado

If you’re the type of traveler who picks their winter destinations based on more than just the amount of black diamond ski slopes in the surrounding area, then we suggest heading to Colorado this year! Let’s face it, even if your intention is to shred powder all day, it would be ideal to have some nice digs to rest in come nightfall. So, whether you’re the member of your party who spends the day drinking hot cocoa and exploring quaint mountain towns or you’re the one strapping on your gear at sunrise and refusing to take it off until sunset, there are locations and accommodations that will make both you and all your travel buddies happy! Here are the top three Colorado ski resorts on our vacation vision board that tick all the boxes…

The Lodge at Breckenridge

Located in, you guessed it, Breckenridge, the Lodge offers stunning views of the Boreas Pass and the Tenmile Range. Besides 45 guestrooms in their main building, there are entire private homes for rent! Sure, in-room fireplaces and balconies are nice, but we particularly appreciate the fact that there are canine-friendly accommodations available. At the end of your runs, you can drop off your gear at their ski and snowboard storage and hit the Alpine Spa and/or the outdoor hot tubs. Experiencing any high-altitude sickness? Their luxury solution is twenty-four hour access to oxygen. Want to check out the town? There are informative tours and a number of museums to visit!

The Peaks Resort & Spa

Need a place to stay in Telluride? Look no further! You can ski in and out of this 161-room resort that’s surrounded by the San Juan Mountains. Eager skiers will be delighted by the easy access to 187 trails! Sick of the slopes? You can take a short gondola ride down to the historic mining town. Whether you’ve had a long day on the mountainside or curled up by the fire (binge reading books can be exhausting), you’re definitely going to want to rejuvenate in this spa! It’s the largest in Colorado (42,000 square-feet large) with 30 treatment rooms and indoor/outdoor pools.

The Steamboat Grand

Steamboat Springs is a fantastic ski spot in the Colorado Rockies. If that’s where you’re headed, consider staying at the Steamboat Grand. Truly, it is grand! There are 328 rooms, which includes studio, condo, and penthouse options, all with views of either a gorgeous mountain vista or the beautiful Yampa Valley! This resort also has a spa but it’s their hot tubs that have us really interested (there’s two and one’s for adults only). Plus, there’s an 85,000-gallon heated pool! Looking for a skis-off adventure? Check out the Outlaw Mountain Coaster. Ready to relax? There are natural hot springs at nearby Strawberry Park! Don’t want to leave the slopes just because the sun has gone down? No need! There are lit trails for night skiing at Steamboat!

Some of us go on vacation for the adventure; in the hopes of discovering new places and experiences. Others go to get in some much-needed R&R. In our opinion, the best trips are those that provide it all! Don’t feel like you have to settle for one or the other. From amenities to local attractions to plenty of comfy furniture, all it takes is a little research to ensure that you’ll have your fantasy winter getaway!
